Beta is going down for Kernel hacking tonight at 12am EST (GMT-5)

We’re going to bring beta down and do some kernel hacking tonight at 12am EST (GMT-5). This means your Minecraft servers will be halted and its possible you’ll have data loss. Make sure you do a save-all on your servers tonight before they are brought down.

Minecraft saves every 15 minutes or so on its own, but so you dont loose that work, please do frequent manual saves.

Users on beta will need to restart their server after the down time is complete. This post will be updated with the results. With any luck Beta will be able to support 1000 FPS source servers!

UPDATE: We were unable to get a hacked kernel to boot! We’ll be trying again another time… Thank you for understanding!

Yeah, so the Omega outages were from two IPs DoSing it during the night. Way to try and ruin Christmas. JESUS WAS BORN. DOES THIS MEAN NOTHING TO YOU? Anyway, we blocked the IPs and we’ll keep on truckkin’.Yeaaaa hawwww….

IPs have been complained about formally to their corresponding abuse contacts. I wonder if one of these was the attacker’s house and the other was his server somewhere. haha!

Hey0 Updates to support the newest Minecraft Beta version

Hey0 is now ready for the masses. You should have just had an email update informing you that Hey0 is ready for installation on your servers – you’ll be able to play again!!!

Prior to this, you may not have been able to connect to your server because your client auto updates and Hey0 requires updating from its creators. Boo! It’s all good now – the wait is over!

Beta going down for memory upgrade

Beta was provisioned with four gigs of memory, which is not enough. We’re having the box fixed up and moved to eight gigs but that means they will be powering off the box in a moment. We’re sorry, but we have to get the memory in there.

beta.hostedgameservers.com has come online today. This box is in Central USA and sports plenty of room for new customers.

If you are having any kind of lag issues, I would much appreciate if you could head over to Beta in Central. There has been overcrowding while we were waiting for new hardware so the more people that move the better.

We have NOT had a chance to flash beta to a new enhanced precision core yet – game FPSs are capped around 300. When we do this, it will require an outage for everyone on the box for a couple hours. We normally do this before launching the server, but because we need capacity so bad and the users who use higher FPS games are so low, we’re tossing it out now.

Omega rolls over :-(

Omega hath died. No, this does not mean that the second coming of Jesus has ended. This just means you’re going to have to restart your servers on Omega.

We’re not entirely sure what happened yet, but whatever it was, the NIC wouldn’t even ping. It was stone dead. A quick power cycle on the connected power strip brought it back up… we’ll keep an eye on it.

Minecraft reaches beta status, releases update for server v1

Minecraft Beta
I just updated the client and the server to Minecraft Beta 1.0

* Working server-side inventory! Finally! (And as a result of that, a whole pile of bugs and issues got fixed)
* Made SMP servers save chunks way less often in most cases. Chunks don’t resave if they got saved in the last 30 seconds
* Moving too far away from a container, or having it blow up, closes the inventory screen
* Fixed /kill
* Introduced leaf decay again. It acts differently from before
* You can now throw eggs
* On a whim, added super exclusive clan cloaks for Mojang Employees
* .. and something else, which is even more rare

We’re updating the servers now! Check for an update message in the control panel!

UPDATE: Minecraft.net has a 502 gateway error – looks like its down! We’ll keep trying an install the update when we can.

UPDATE 2: Site back up, files in place! Update released for HGSPanel!
